EV Maritime has launched its first pure-battery urban ferry, the EVM200.
The 24 metre-long ferry has been developed with support from the New Zealand Government for operation by Auckland Transport and will provide services between downtown Auckland and the suburb of Half Moon Bay.

The first of two vessels in its class, the debutante is capable of speeds of up to 25 knots with a range of up to 32km.
Each vessel accommodates up to 200 passengers on the enclosed main deck, with the upper deck offering additional seating for up to 30 people.
Onboard amenities include three restrooms, one of which is ADA-accessible, as well as a small kiosk serving coffee, beer and wine.
Each ferry can carry up to 20 bikes and scooters in an enclosed area, with the vessel’s overall naval architecture and design led by EV Maritime.
Motors and power electronics were provided by Finland’s Danfoss, with tech specialist HamiltonJet supplying the boat’s four LTX-model waterjets.
The hull has been manufactured from carbon-fire composite, with ship construction duties having been handled by McMullen & Wing.
