BIMCO has announced preparations to launch a brand-new Maritime Digitalisation Network, an initiative which aims to bring together the global maritime community in an effort to accelerate its overall digital transformation.
The new network will serve as an open forum for members to share ideas, exchange real-world experienced, discuss operations and collaborate on practical solutions for the sector’s digital challenges.

BIMCO has stated that the purpose of the network is to ‘create a dynamic space that will encourage innovation, help identify new business opportunities and strengthen professional connections across the maritime value chain’.
Potential areas of focus for the network include electronic bills of lading, voyage optimisation, including Just-in-Time Arrivals and Blue Visby, vessel optimisation tools and techniques, smarter, digitally-enabled contracts such as charter parties and management agreements and GoPaperless initiatives that make trade more efficient through digitalisation.
