Corvus Energy has partnered with Brazilian maritime and offshore services provider Belga Marine to expand local support for battery-powered vessels operating in Brazil’s offshore sector.

The agreement will provide maintenance and aftermarket services for Corvus Energy’s marine energy storage systems, as well as local spare parts storage for vessel operators.

Brazil’s offshore sector is expanding across both oil and gas and emerging renewable energy projects. The country currently has almost 500 offshore support vessels (OSVs) in operation, with further fleet expansion and renewal expected.

Corvus Energy supplies energy storage systems for marine applications, including hybrid offshore support vessels. Several vessels operating in Brazil already use the company’s battery systems.

Under the new partnership, Belga Marine will provide local aftermarket services for Corvus Energy customers in Brazil. These will include maintenance, repair and technical support, alongside the storage of spare parts.

Belga Marine has provided maintenance and repair services for marine and offshore equipment in Brazil since 1981. Its activities include naval electronics, telecommunications, navigation and automation, as well as equipment inspection and certification.

The company is registered with several international maritime classification societies, including ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV and Lloyd’s Register.

The partnership is intended to provide Corvus Energy customers with access to local technical support while retaining access to the company’s wider technical and digital support network.

Tor-Gunnar Hovig, Head of Region-Americas at Corvus Energy, said:

As the adoption of battery technology accelerates in Brazil's offshore sector, reliable local support becomes increasingly important. Through our partnership with Belga Marine, we can combine strong regional service capabilities with Corvus Energy's global expertise, digital monitoring solutions, predictive analytics, and technical support network. Together, we are ensuring customers receive the support they need throughout the entire lifecycle of their systems.

Corvus Energy will combine Belga Marine’s regional service capabilities with its own technical support, digital monitoring and predictive analytics services.

The partnership forms part of its approach to supporting vessel operators throughout the lifecycle of their energy storage systems.

As more hybrid and battery-powered vessels enter Brazil’s offshore fleet, the availability of local maintenance and spare parts is expected to reduce the need to rely solely on support from outside the country.

The partnership will initially focus on Corvus Energy systems installed on marine and offshore vessels in Brazil and is intended to support both the existing fleet and future vessel deployments.
