Royal Caribbean Group has confirmed an order with Meyer Turku for two additional cruise ships in its Icon Class fleet, with deliveries scheduled for 2029 and 2030.

The agreement forms part of a longer-term framework between the cruise operator and the Turku-based shipbuilder in Finland. The arrangement secures shipbuilding capacity for Royal Caribbean Group through to 2036 and also includes a previously disclosed fifth Icon Class ship due in 2028.

Meyer Turku has already delivered two vessels in the Icon Class: Icon of the Seas, which entered service in January 2024, and Star of the Seas, delivered in August 2025. A third ship, Legend of the Seas, is due to begin operations in the western Mediterranean in July 2026. A fourth vessel, Hero of the Seas, is scheduled to follow in 2027.

Casimir Lindholm, CEO of Meyer Turku said:

The order of sixth and seventh Icon Class vessels is a significant recognition of Meyer Turku and the Finnish maritime industry's talent and expertise. This milestone represents an important step forward in our partnership with Royal Caribbean Group to develop the shipbuilding sector over the next decade and beyond.

The two companies have worked together for more than 30 years. During that period, Meyer Turku has built 25 ships for Royal Caribbean Group. The yard and its supply chain employ around 13,000 people and contribute more than 1 billion EUR annually to the Finnish economy.

The Icon Class reflects our bold creativity and engineering excellence that continues to define what a vacation can be. Through our long-standing partnership with Meyer Turku, the Finnish government, and the strong Finnish maritime cluster, we are reimagining the industry for decades to come while also delivering meaningful economic impact for Finland.
